Mortar is high on the top of my list of things to never, ever touch again. My hands look like I have worked in the construction industry for the last 30 years, without gloves. I am not exaggerating. I can't even fold clothes because my skin gets caught on all the flipping shirts. Really irritating. Let me tell ya. I've gone so far as to use a special lotion for cracked, damaged skin. The main ingredient is urea. If you know what this ingredient really is, you will know how desperate I am to be able to touch a soft blanket again in my life.

I really didn't think putting rock around my fireplace would be this bad. What the heck was I thinking???? If you don't mix it to the exact consistency (not the way it says to mix it on the bag...how dumb...) then it won't stick. At all. Well, maybe it will stick for 10 seconds, and then the stone will fall off the wall. So, after about 2 hours of messing with this crap to get it the right consistency, it finally had a bit of "sticky-ness" to it. But it still took me over 9 hours, yes NINE, to get half way on my project. And after hour eight with no food or drink or a potty break, I was in tears. And I'm not done, because I still have to go all the way up to the ceiling with the stones. Who's grand idea was it to go all the way up to the ceiling with stone?? Either I suck it up and finish it, or I will just find a way to make tar paper and metal lath look like it's the new "in" thing to put around fireplaces. I'd be giving Design On A Dime a run for their money, let me tell ya. Do you think I can convince people that it's the new trend???? I didn't think so.....Oh well, I'm off to drink the rest of the wine in our new wine fridge. Oh, and if I don't blog for a couple of days, send someone out to find me. I'll probably be out back chucking the left over rocks off our deck.Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-62361261479243914312009-02-02T10:01:00.000-08:002009-02-02T10:08:03.775-08:00Superbowl 2009We had a few friends over yesterday to watch the Superbowl. Danielle wanted a "theme" to the party, so we chose Mardi Gras. (I don't know if that's how you spell it)

It was alot of fun, even though I think our crowd was definitely rooting for the Cardinals, we still enjoyed the suspense of the game. Here is a pic of Braedyn, Danielle and Andra all decked out in their Mardi Gras attire.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcC2On2btZYKKbO9FDj9S2inlVh2Oq_QqET0eMyKeBg9P6KKkVHdLBtH4emq02fLFD39n-rMraK_lnEPoNjI6KZJCthqd4dPqNOWhkEkFekOsUjro56P-2EhZqAxZTRe8rDV-yDw/s400/dani'e+023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5298263187704845810" />Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-13232331603725432062009-01-27T09:15:00.000-08:002009-01-27T09:24:06.654-08:0029th Remodeling mistake you never want to make.....Don't assume you know the metric system just because you passed 2nd grade math.

After measuring, checking and re-measuring, I still ordered Joe to cut my brand new mantle 54 inches. BY DANIELLEOne day Bob found some extra money from his book. So he went to the local library. He got on the Internet. He thought about going on a vacation. He thought, "How he would get there?". Would he fly? Buy a car? Will he take the bus? Would he walk? He just remembered he's always wanted to go on a cruise.

So, he went to www.take-a-cruise-to-almost-anywhere-you-want-almost-any-time-you-want.com. He found one that was next week, and in his price range. It went to Mexico. So he went to his box (his house) to pack his and Charlies things. Bob just had a jacket, socks, pants, a shirt and shoes. Charlie had hoof warmers, shampoo, conditioner and horn polish.

The next week the cruise was at the dock, but he forgot his tickets and passports (even though he didn't have any) and Charlie. He went and got charlie. He saw if tickets were in his pockets and BAM!! They were. (Just Kidding). But there was paper, color crayons, and some lint! (yay, except the lint!) So he made a Passport for Charlie and himself. They looked something like this....
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 101px; height: 135px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1sYwvRTC8NYe5g6EhqLA-NhTSRDT6tezSlQtB4NRO7nYrba7COu3ECvjxVroKQ_JZ3e545w6mtI_PZdn86OqebRLxy6FOCohGZ_IYbO0BNOyDXpvhZVIe_2fbvZPAB3ifUxWUfg/s320/passport.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295805092588766290" />

He made some tickets like this....
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 123px; height: 102px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIngpfwQKlHfXxzIBtBBPbRtbZcb54fl4ys-VV6BvM1-1A2ACF-rc-WbKtIcuojIUGc7a-wbe2_sGvWicGQPR8vErwAp1CXK_N14j9tHOUEOnvQRE8zZ-hf19-P_O2mwtPWwEI4g/s320/ticket.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295805095234840322" />

And the lint looked like this....
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 121px; height: 81px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwZ5QCjhg7q2JoVGmBylkfwLxYuDN7jhaWkv4DNTQbuStsn00MLi6-PUR3qfCXA_IQBVxXFJcRjxaFnJum1AYJi1xVwRUZ8ePOqEo2pzDCQ_7WbbZ9NYWO9PJ1EBnY5-PS2Oz2mw/s320/lint.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295805091196216482" />

So he got in line and they got on the ship. They went to look at the ocean and BAM!! The luggage fell overboard. And Charlie said "Yo Diggity Dog". They went to their room and Bob took a nap. Charlie went to the buffet. When he was done eating he went to check on Bob. He was still sleeping. So Charlie went swimming. When they got to Mexico, Bob was still sleeping. He had slept through the whole trip there!!

When they got off the ship there was some guy there to greet them. He said " Aloha". The guy in front of them said, "Don't you mean 'Ola?" "Oh yeah... 'Ola!"

They went and shopped for their mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc. When they were done shopping Bob and Charlie remembered that Bob was a hermit and Charlie doesn't have any family. On the way back home they swam, ate, swam and went scuba diving. When they got home they had over 150 pictures. They had a great time on the cruise. Bob said " That was great!" and Charlie said "Hot Diggity Dog!". THE END.

By DanielleKellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-11076343741059641562009-01-23T09:40:00.000-08:002009-01-23T10:01:24.713-08:00Texas basketball team has 100 to ZERO win.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 110px; height: 128px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQsaGln9dgiY4IdXkyVg17fecAC22doMZQ95icoqH5cmQN8nU87YdGVIYi4zGZ1DQ4TgzniyG9SFGpyRTq9sgt1zBDF1AGqcFJf9JrgvU9gzBBjbil_YiXzkuUlTF-QReBsxDNxw/s320/basketball.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294550470295421330" />
Wow. I need to vent on this one. I saw this in the newspaper and it made me sick to my stomach. Just to recap a bit.....
A Texas high school GIRLS basketball team beat a rival team 100 to 0. They were up 59 to 0 at halftime. Supposedly, they were still using the full court press up till they hit 100 points. Now the coach of the winning team wants to forfeit the game because he feels bad about the win. WHAT??? Where was he during the game?? It is written that he was on the sidelines cheering his team on and wanting the girls to keep racking up the points. And now he regrets it?? What?? It's a little too late, Mr. Coach. Here is what he had to say about the matter.

"It is shameful and an embarrassment that this happened," Kyle Queal, the head of the school, said in a statement, adding the forfeit was requested because "a victory without honor is a great loss."

This is ridiculous. These schools are supposedly Christian private schools. The coach of the losing team showed his beautiful colors by adding....

"Somewhere during that game they (the winning team) got caught up in the moment," Peloza said of the Covenant players, fans and coaches. "Our girls just moved on. That's the happy part of the story."

I don't know if I could have been as polite as the coach of the "losing" team. He is taking this as a learning experience, and focusing on the good.
If you ask me, I don't think the winning team should be given the option of forfeiting the game. They did this. They were participants in this terrible show of "sportsman-ship". They knew what the score was. They wouldn't let up. So why should they be able to erase what they have done after the fact?? I think the score should stick with the "winning" team forever, so that maybe they will think about what is right or wrong in the future, and make better choices.

One last thing I must add, Danielle is playing basketball right now, and I think the age of the girls has alot to do with it, but these girls play hard, and are happy with the outcome of the game whether they win or loose. The parents of both teams cheer for each other, not just the team their child is on. It is a pleasure to watch both teams working hard, and having fun along with it. Don't get me wrong now, I do think that in the future if kids are going to continue on with competitive sports they need to WANT to win, and have a will to win, but it sure is nice to see the girls all playing "together" and having a great time. For now.Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-89637368327321056462009-01-22T16:14:00.000-08:002009-01-22T16:46:28.009-08:00January Happenings......<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 104px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9LDPXX0fzTpdGbz6WhOwalnLsnhWYPPv0EKrcNYBv1CieSrIg4HjsyOy2bq0fKsyrCA_5LS2DXdD7avVlXBBJO_z3HQiEE_N-u2SfjQZP9OcsCMN3HXKXtN3w515lr4410tG_Rw/s320/calendar.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294283087336923378" />
Lot's of change has been going on around me!!! First and fore-most, we have a new President!!! And he just happens to be the first African American president elected here in America!! It has been a long time coming, if you ask me!!! I am hoping that this puts a whole new light on race relations in the whole world!!! Am I being too hopeful???? Well, anyway, it was an awesome "change of power", and I am hoping to see many positive changes in the future. RE: Iraq, foreign relations, health care, economy, employment, blah, blah. But I do want to point out that I believe we have a long road ahead, and I personally don't expect any miracles to come of this, because it's just not gonna happen. There. The only miracle maker out there for me is the good Lord above. Anyway......

Dani has started Hip Hop again. And I am really proud of myself, because as some of you may know, I sometimes have a hard time asserting myself. But NOT THIS TIME!!! As Dani and I were signing up for the class, I realized that we needed to sign up about 2 months earlier to be eligible to be in the recital in June. So as I was reading that in the fine print I nearly passed out. Just the thought of her not being in the recital nearly brought me to tears. So I tromped up to the desk and I asked the receptionist if what I was reading was true. She informed me it was. So that is when I turned on the "schmoozing". Somehow I walked out of there with Danielle signed up, her classes paid for, a confirmation that she could be in the June recital, and her costumes for the recital paid for. And I really don't know how I pulled it of, but that doesn't matter because I did!!! Yeah, Me.

We are making progress on our remodel. I will try to post the pics sometime soon, but it is looking good. No longer are the days that I am embarrassed to open the front door when there is a knock on it, because as far as the eye can see from the door right now, it looks finished. Even if there isn't any furniture. I'll get to that another day.

I applied and took the test to see if I can work for the 2010 Census. I took the test today, and I must say it was a bit intimidating, but I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that I passed. They need employees to start within the next month or so. Remodeling costs money, you know.

Dani is in Basketball!!! She has had a few practices and one game already! She really enjoys it, (ok, everything except the loud cheers coming from somewhere in the stands....) and she actually scored 25% of the final score on last week's game. YEAH!!! She takes after her mom!!! lol ;-)

Half the school year has past. Wow. It truly seems like Danielle just started the 4th grade, in a new school. All is well, and everything is going awesome in the school department. This is the first school we have been to that is "online". I can get on the computer and look at her grades in each class, go over her assignments, etc. It is really cool. It helps me keep a closer eye on her progress. Not that she needs me too!! ;-) She's always been on the honor roll, so we can loosen up the reigns a bit.

Anyway, that is a quick update. Life has been flying by, but it has been good. Take care, Y'all!!!!Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-64776772407595693272009-01-20T22:04:00.000-08:002009-01-20T22:14:55.563-08:00Bob the Hermit RETURNS!!! It has been awhile, but Danielle finally got comfortable enough at school to start expressing herself by writing. Yeah!!! Here is her latest story.....

HI

One day Bob and Fred were playing at the park. Fred was playing on the swings. Bob was playing on the slide. A few hours later a little boy came to the park. He said, "Hi". Bob and Fred said, "Hi, what's your name?". The little boy said "Hi". So Bob and Fred said " Hi, Hi.". About a half hour later they left.

They went to Bob's house and Played a board game. When they got done they watched a movie. Then they heard the door knock. Bob opened it and he said "Hi, Hi".

Next when the movie was over Bob and Fred went out for lunch. They sat down at a booth. The waiter came to take their order. Then Hi came along and said "Hi", so they ordered, ate, paid, then left.

The next day was Halloween. So they got up early. Fred went to Bob's house and they went to Mallmart. They got decorations. They got fake skeletons, ghosts and even a blow up Frankenstein. Fred was going to hand out candy at Bob's house.

At about 8:00 or so the first trick or treaters came. There were boys dressed up as Superman, Spiderman and the Hulk. Then Hi came to the door and said "Hi". Hi was dressed up as a cowboy. So they gave him some candy and he left. Then two girls came to the door dressed up as Cinderella and Belle. After that two girls and three boys dressed up as an Indian, a cheerleader, a superhero and a guy from Earth Wars. The last trick-or-treater came at about 9:45pm. By that time about 25 trick-or-treaters came to Bob's house. Anyway, the last trick-or-treater was dressed up as a monster. They gave him/her some candy and then him/her ripped off his/her mask and it was Hi. He said "Hi". They said "Hi, Hi", how are you? He said "hi" and he walked away.

The next day Bob got a letter that said that it was from Hi. It said....."Tomorrow I am moving to Saturn. I will never see you again. Sincerely, Hi.

So Bob called Fred and told him to come to his house A.S.A.P. So Fred came over to Bob's house and read the letter. "So he can only say "Hi", but he can write? What's up with that?" Fred said. Bob said, "That's not important right now". We have to go find Hi.

So they went and found Hi. They said bye to Hi. He said "Hi". (which they knew meant bye). So he went off to Saturn in his space ship, and right at that moment when they thought they would never see him again, he stuck his head out of the space shuttle and said, "You can come visit me any time.". And he dropped a piece of paper out of the window that said his address.

So every three weeks they went and visited Hi. (If that is his name).

About a year later a boy named "Yo" moved next door. And the whole story went over again. And they all lived happily ever after. (Just kidding).

The end.

I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Great Job Dani!!! Keep up the good work!!Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-59947686042099624902009-01-06T09:39:00.000-08:002009-01-06T09:57:12.549-08:00It's a New Year......<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 118px; height: 118px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqn4QiNBWdIZ-TWXeKwVwCQ4t4DsoTAO88B-I8AAg9n2oNTRVtYaGD7D45iA_f5V8jBQcUZiN0qgHh2xSq_fIvP2mgga5FI4LJ1WUELwW-_GF7nMrFTOcCC7RrbNKF-7k-zx7RLA/s320/hungry.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5288241191699508466" />
....and all I have been seeing on TV is crap about how to get healthy, eat right, exercise more, loose weight, get out of debt.....etc, etc. I don't know about you guys, but I am getting really tired of listening to random people speculating about why I might have a problem with all of the above....

Yesterday I was watching Oprah. The guy from the "best life" was on the show. Now, I think alot of what he says makes alot of sense. I should probably listen to what he is saying more of the time!! But, one thing that didn't make sense to me was that he said that being hungry really isn't about the food. What??? I don't know about all of you guys, but when I am hungry, it is ALL about the food. My stomach wants food. NOW. I really don't think you can read between the lines on this one, people. I know a hunger pain when I feel one, and I am not going buy into the idea that I am hungry, therefore I must have a miserable life. Nope, not me. I just want a flippin' turkey dinner with all the fixin's and my life will be perfect. :-)

Another thing I heard from Dr. Oz was this. He said that a normal healthy person should not feel tired until they have been up for 12 hours straight and they have worked FULL day. Hmmmm. There is something REALLY wrong with me then, because I seem to get really tired just after breakfast. Can anyone else relate?? I know I can't be the only one out there who gets worn out while watching the morning news.

Oh, and here's a good one about spending money. It's not about the "stuff". Supposedly if you go out and buy a bunch of stuff, you are trying to hide all the underlying issues your life has. Hmmm. The only issue I seem to have at that point in time is that I want a new scarf. And that is quickly solved by just buying it. See, I don't need counseling, I just need a good day at the mall!!! Followed by the food court, of course.

Happy New Year everyone!!!!Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-2879557332689028382009-01-02T19:00:00.000-08:002009-01-02T19:08:06.661-08:00Polar Bear Plunge 2009Dani did it again!!! I feel bad for my mom. I actually feel bad for anyone that has had to shovel the amount of snow that we have been getting this winter. It's just the first of January, and we already have record snow. I don't think it's gonna stop. I try to help Joe out whenever I can. When he gets home from work, the driveway is shoveled, or snow-blowed. But he had to get up on our roof, and I couldn't help him, because it is just too darned high, and it scared the heck out of me. So he had to go at it alone. :-(

The Coeurdalene house had 3 feet of snow on it's roof. That is the limit, and we knew it needed to be shoveled. The cda house isn't nearly as tall as our Hauser house, so I went along to help. Joe put me up on the back of the house's roof, while he worked on the front. This really isn't all it's cracked up to be. This is TOUGH work. I don't know how much I would have to get paid to actually do this for a JOB. It is literally back breaking. about 10 minutes into it I think I pulled a muscle in my right arm. I still can barely lift it. Thank goodness for muscle rub. Mmmmm, smells good!!! :-)

Anyway, after we finished up the main house, we looked at the garage and were astonished that it had not caved in. I mean, it is a 100 year old garage with a cheesy lean-to on the side. So I started working on the bottom part that was curled over the eve of the roof. This was on the lean-to. Joe warned me that the snow could fall off the eve of the lean-to, so I stood back and worked my shovel from afar. Neither of us thought the WHOLE roof covered with snow would even have a slight chance of sliding off. We were wrong. All I know is that Joe was on the main part of the garage roof, shoveling, and I was working on the lean-to. The next thing I know, I hear snow falling. And the snow falling is REALLY loud. And it is falling on ME. It happened so fast. After the snow fell on me, I was covered up to my stomach. Thank god it didn't cover my chest. I felt something metal hit my head, and then Joe was right beside me. The snow had carried him and the shovel down right on top of me. All I could say was, "it's not on my chest, it's not on my chest...". But it was getting heavier by the second, and I just wanted my body freed from this crushing snow. Joe quickly started digging my out with his hands, and I was directing him as to which parts to uncover first, etc. I couldn't move ANY of my covered body. Now I know what it would be like to be covered by an avalanche. But I don't know to the full extent. Thank God.

Joe uncovered my stomach, then my one leg, then my other leg, then pulled me out. I think 4 feet of snow was on top of me. I laid there in disbelief of what had just happened. It wasn't until it was all over that my head started to hurt and I started to realize the severity of the situation. Lately we have been hearing on the news of people getting buried by snow falling from their roofs, and actually passing away. It's a scary thought. But someone was looking out for me yesterday, and I can tell you one thing for sure, I am going to church this Sunday.Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-74448618353754163572008-12-30T10:19:00.000-08:002008-12-30T10:53:19.224-08:00For the love of dog.......<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 122px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTloGgI7Nz4EuffCc-gRwiGc8FAazkb9d8QZAuKXoZNi2IoZALaSTXJeYls0pZvFi2_ap9cg2j3NRTWGVHcmYxmzno8tK13Gf86xQ5q9ASfbjZdDH6XkAiGk2vlvbboUerOH4Swg/s200/dog.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5285657930816591474" />
I need to vent. But I will start out telling you about my love for MY dog, little Neiko. This may be the only way I will convince some of 'yall that I DO love dogs. Certain dogs. (kidding....I think). Anyway, I love my little neikie. He is such a good little boy. He has his moments, but he truly HATES to get in trouble, so if he ever get's punished for something, he makes a note of it, and doesn't do it again. He has been having a hard time in the snow and the cold. He hates going outside in the cold. I can't blame him, he is so small that just the chill alone probably takes his body temp down 40 points in like, two minutes. And his short little legs don't help him out AT ALL in the deep snow. We have been shoveling out a small area behind our house so he can go back there and do his "business", so that we can't see yucky old marks in the snow in front of our house. I HATE seeing yellow snow anywhere, but we make it a point not to let Neiko go in front of the house, so we don't have to see it, and no one else does either. So, on that note, here is my gripe.

My neighbor got a room-mate. He seems nice enough, but here is the problem. He has a bigger dog, something like a lab. Right when he moved in our neighbor told him that dogs are not allowed to run wild up here. Most people up here have electric fences. He obviously didn't hear it, or he just chose not to. So, as I pull up in my drive-way I get greeted by a dog. Not MY dog, because he is in the house keeping warm, but the "room-mates" dog. It follows me up my driveway and greets me while I get out of my car in my garage. I am not a fan of this. I actually despise this. Now, don't think I'm going over the top here, but I don't want another persons dog to come greet me in MY garage as I pull up. I don't even want MY dog to do this. This dog also likes to do his business in our front yard. Now that there is snow in our yard, it is a bit more obvious. I went out to get the paper today and I literally got nauseous as I looked at this HUGE yellow mark in the snow beside my driveway. I know for a fact it was NOT my dog, because the spot was actually 2 times bigger than he is. What a wonderful way to greet guests as they come to our house. NOT. This makes me sick. So, you are probably wondering if we have done anything about our "problem". Well, Joe mentioned to our neighbor that her roommates dog likes to frequent our property, and that we didn't like it. So, about an hour later, there was a knock on our door, and when Joe opened it, the roommate was there. Here is a condensed version of the conversation they had.

Roommate: I was told that my dog has been on your property. I just want to assure you that my dog is a nice dog.

Joe: OK.

Roommate: I am sure once you get to know my dog you will realize he is harmless, and he is a good dog.

Joe: OK. But that is not our complaint. I am sure your dog is a good dog, but we would appreciate it if you would not let it run on our property.

Roommate: How about we all get together for about an hour and a half, and we can all train my dog. He is not aware that you guys don't like dogs, so when you get home, he just likes to come over and say hi. If we all trained the dog, he would realize that you don't like him, and this problem will be solved.

Joe: We are NOT going to meet with you and train your dog. We don't have time, and we don't feel like it. All we want is for you to keep your dog off our property.

Roommate: Well, I am really busy and I can't keep my dog off your property. This is why I moved to the country. I don't have time to watch my dog, and since you are also a busy man, I am sure you will understand that.

Joe: No, I don't understand. I am also busy. But when my dog goes outside I go with it. He does what he needs to do, then he comes inside with me.

Roommate: Well, that is just crazy. You can't expect me to stay outside with my dog. But again, let's get together, it will only take an hour and a half, and all of this will be solved.

Joe: Maybe you didn't hear me. Just keep your dog off my property. We are NOT interested in training your dog. Just keep him off my property.

Roommate: Sir, you are just being unreasonable. There is no other way to solve this problem. Once you all realize my dog is nice, you won't mind if he is on your property....

This conversation went on for 30 minutes, it got a bit more heated, and I think it ended by Joe slamming the door in his face. Anyway, the dog still frequents our property. And I really don't think the roommate knows what 'unreasonable' means, but Joe is really close to showing him.

Any tips about how to solve this problem kindly??? We are up for suggestions. Oh, and don't even begin to say by training it, because it's not gonna happen!Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-16888167231709629832008-12-18T08:59:00.000-08:002008-12-18T09:04:30.279-08:00Snow fall....Here is how it looked off my deck yesterday.....
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH4nxko4lw7frvEyCmyAOA4V1895inJXqJ2Jwxs9jUulNmcTUKoqxrgleA2Te0kQQWQ4dK5UsCGOhkuHCO-LES1Mt5yedLgN17e5SLhtJTOciFo3RTqvla6IcpHBvA-H9iFTZUdg/s200/snow+08+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281176766551221266" />

Here it is today. Thank gosh we are done with those. Not that they weren't fun, but I am tuckered out!!!! My mom and Danielle tagged along for the ride, and for the hotel, and pool, and shopping, and sight seeing!!!!
We went to the Space needle, we explored the Pacific Science Center, we went to the mall, and we shopped at local downtown stores. A fun time was had by all........

This one is my mom and Danielle at the top of the Space Needle....
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCPC9xwQzKgcAJehAoTEbuxUIE-ZrgYJqdwe4UWpm4OPuB-rw7e1iS3ClwU5FzRORyrveHNroLsCYYUgtLEYJy18tz0g1n6mNKQKpdnerVpjpPGgOJru3fyTBI93EnEOFl4BeXYg/s200/seattle+049.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280816285148201570" />

This one is also at the science center, in the "Butterfly Room". Did I say TEN??? Oh my gosh, how time flies. It is really scary to me when I think about how fast these last ten years have gone by. If the next eight go by half this fast I will be in bad shape. Let's just hope that when the day comes for miss D to go out on her own, I better have some really strong medication on the bed-stand. Or I know I am really going to be in-for-it.
So, in these awesome last ten years I have learned so much from my little one. I have learned that I could always use more patience, that I shouldn't sweat the small stuff, that Joe and I are succeeding in our roles as parents, that we have been blessed with a kind, well-rounded, sharp, caring, humble, funny, bright, sweet and respectful little girl. And we could have never asked for more. She is truly the light of our lives, and we look at her with such pride and admiration that it is truly amazing. Our hard work and dedication is paying off, and we are seeing the results right in front of our eyes. But we can't begin to take all of the credit for it, because SHE has chosen to be the outstanding young lady that she is. Thank you Danielle, for giving your daddy and I such a great gift. YOU.
We love you!!!Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-75962479303790716982008-11-26T08:29:00.000-08:002008-11-26T08:55:53.807-08:00Mmmmmm, Turkey!!!<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 113px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKWe9XJn7quZaKYxLjw0s8qM278XorBHCMK7awQKOpZuIbxQFHTPq7mlITg6gp-EYneZN6rrHdZ7gaL3J7ZIbRKv5xod5Z7QFoYsLMoOuRv9HZXVTWCINOL1RUIGlHrfYsoaP4IA/s320/thanksgiving.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273010143889510418" />
I woke up in a cold sweat this morning, after dreaming that it was Thanksgiving TODAY, and I didn't have the turkey thawed out, and I wondered what the hell I was going to do because it had to be in the oven in a few hours. Yikes. I was in a panic. I had no clue how I was going to bake a frozen turkey, and I thought my wonderful day was ruined. BUT........thank goodness it was just a dream. So, I am going to do a top seven of what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving, and #1 is that I still have one more day left to thaw my yummy turkey. Here is the rest...

#2 I thank my lucky stars every single day that Danielle has weathered this transition well. Moving to a new house is always tough, especially when she lived in our other home for her whole life. How does a new home compare to an old, familiar, comforting, and favorite old one? We have come to realize that it doesn't, but is a "good" different, as she will always love her "other" home, but she has transitioned perfectly. Much better than we would have ever imagined. Who knew that Danielle was stronger than her mother? Believe me, she is.

#3 I am SOOOOO greatful that I have a wonderful husband that goes to work every single day just to make our lives better. It is actually really humbling to think about how much he does for us every single day. Thank you so much honey, I love you!!!

#4 I thankful for the wonderful view I see every time I look out our windows. Joe made my dreams come true when he bought us this house, and I truly think we will never move again. This is where we want to be.

#5 We are so blessed this year with good health. For the most part, our whole family has been very healthy this year. No major illnesses to speak of. What a wonderful gift!!

#6 I am greatful for our family. Though I wish some of us could get together more often, we truly are lucky to live in an area where most of us live no more than an hour apart, and we can see each other pretty regularly. I really do wish for more of a close-ness with certain members of our family, and hopefully we can all turn a new leaf as the new year approaches, but for the most part we are on the right track.

#7 I thank God every day that we are lucky enough to be living in a warm home, driving reliable cars and eating food that is plentiful. As the economy is falling, we are more aware of the number of families that don't have these "luxuries". This year we will continue our tradition of giving to local charities in need.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, I hope you will be with your family tomorrow, and after dinner you will be miserably full. Like me.Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-32631686385535829492008-11-18T12:47:00.000-08:002008-11-18T13:02:15.118-08:00Construction.....I am sitting here on my computer, listening to the sweet sounds of the contractor tearing a wall out downstairs. Normally, I would be annoyed by the loud bang's and pound's, but it is music to my ears. It's just one step closer to a finished first level. Yeah!!!! So, I need to get on the phone with the carpet guys, so they can come measure and get us on their schedule. The wall should be removed and ready to go by late this week. Hooray!!! The picture I posted has a line in the middle of the room on the floor, and that is where the wall used to be. They need to put up a beam and a post as it is a bearing wall....but the room already looks HUGE, compared to two little rooms seperated by a wall.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_y3zzHagdan7VdRddrxU__Y08VOlvHcQa2kL14Nlgjfw7MNj86JU8FZsp9AH-ImJe6rPh6XiiygFMIl4837gJwFj6C3IHgryBbWwifWNTl6rxs5oW0YeTMh-9Vhic0Badn7E7bA/s400/consturction+013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5270105321989446610" />Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-31793579658063742142008-11-12T08:59:00.000-08:002008-11-12T09:08:59.091-08:00Veterans Day.....<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 137px; height: 124px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDfgXr8_F_gwjxIIe3Tk_mG1Kh1Z3H54Naa3QFZLfEWPPEt6AtoGVpQPNgzpBDDc8nAcyZ8SoLcN_enxrAEeD100f9kZsFLjrC56ZJEd3SXqPdYL3u4sxEGAPC2X_j6DqBYXNobQ/s200/veterans+day.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267819026711608802" />
Yesterday was veterans day, and it is a tradition at Danielle's school to have an assembly to honor those who have served our great country. My mom and I got ready and drove to the school to attend this service. Little did I know that the songs the children sang,..(Proud to be an American, My country ti's of thee..etc), and the slide show followed by music would bring us to tears. I think alot of it was that there were veterans standing all around us and there were children who attend school there that actually have parents that are currently serving our country in Iraq. As we speak! It just really brought it home for me. For US, I should say. Anyway, it was an awesome assembly, the kids worked really hard to make it special, and they succeeded! Thanks for the hard work guys!!! And thanks to all the men and women who have served and are currently serving our country!!Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-63453175184776310762008-11-10T09:03:00.000-08:002008-11-10T09:15:22.728-08:00Back to Normal......Oh it feels good to be home. Nothing is better than sitting in my living room, watching the news and drinking coffee I brewed MYSELF. Oh, the "perks" of being home.....(no pun intended....lol)

We did have a great time in Vegas. It was awesome while it lasted, but we are sick of living like "high-rollers". Landing in Spokane yesterday afternoon never felt so good. I couldn't wait till I got some true "home-cookin'". We spent 5 days eating at many high priced restaurants in Vegas.........Emeril Lagasse's restaurant, a super spendy steak-house, a 5 star restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere that actually spins around while you eat...(not fast, thank god). But let me tell you, I really prefer my OWN cooking. I know, that sounds terrible, and especially since I do NOT claim to be a good cook......but I just like regular stuff. I mean, in these restaurants you can't get anything "normal". I mean, who wants to go to a restaurant to eat pheasant, venison, rabbit, and who knows what else. ( half the time I couldn't even understand the menu....).

It was a great experience though. I loved rolling up to a spendy place in a limo. It made me feel like a star for a day. Oh, and the suite we stayed in......beautiful view, in a five star resort. Loved it. Except for the fact that they don't have coffee pots in the rooms. I realized it's because they want you to go downstairs and pay $7.00 for a cup of freshly brewed stuff. But I swear I am drinking my own freshly brewed coffee this morning in my own house for like 10 cents a cup. I can't tell the difference????

So, we went to the Cirque show called "O". It was awesome. Truly awesome. Most of the show was set in the water, as the stage miraculously comes and goes, and a huge pool of water appears where the stage was for the majority of the show. I can't explain how great it was. So much fun.

One night we went to a comedy/variety show with Wayne Brady. (you know, the guy on "whose line is it anyway".....It was awesome too. We were in the front row, and we got to participate in the show a bit. Joe's boss performed the role of Randy in American Idol, I was Paula (and I don't know if I was quite drunk enough to play her very well....lol..), and Joe got to be good old Simon. It was so much fun. And in the end we got to go back stage and get our pictures taken with him, and we all got autographs. I made sure to get one for Danielle, and he happily wrote a comment for her....."Danielle......Where were you? Take care sweetie, Wayne Brady". It was sweet, and she was super happy to get it.

So, enough about our Vegas trip.......I haven't been able to post about the election. I must say that last Tuesday night I broke down in tears when Obama was declared the President elect. It really just hit me that only years ago, African Americans were not even ABLE to vote, and now Obama will be our next president. It was just really emotional for me. I hope this can do wonders for race relations in our country, and I hope we can mend our broken foreign relations in other countries also. So, I wasn't just jubilant that he was voted into office, it really was bitter sweet to me. Very emotional. Joe was looking at me like..."why the hell are you crying??". :-)

Anyway, I better go and check my email, my space and face book sites, and get back into the swing of "regular" life. When she brought it home, I looked at the title and got this sick feeling in my stomach, but when I read it, I was a bit relieved. Here it is.....

MOVING......by Danielle

When I moved I felt sad and worried. I felt sad because I might not see some of my friends again. I was worried because I might not make alot of friends at my new school. I had alot of friends at my old school. Last year I went to Mullan Trail Elementary in Post Falls. In first grade I had Mrs. James. In second grade I had Mrs. Holt. In third grade I had Mrs. Teston. Now I have Mrs. Storlie. Our music teacher was Mrs. Clark, our librarian was Mrs. Owens, our music teacher was Mrs. Clark, our PE teacher was Mr. Hirsch and our principal was Mrs. Surrat.

I used to live in Prairie Falls Golf Course. Now I live in Hauser Lake Heights. There weren't very many kids in my old neighborhood. Now there's more kids in my new neighborhood. There wasn't very many things to do, but you could see if someone could come over. You could go for a walk, play in your back yard and that's about all. Now you can go for a walk, you could see if someone could come over, explore the woods, make a fort or you can go swimming at the lake.

I still miss my old house and my old school. But I still like my new school, and new house. Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-16135278362947827442008-10-23T09:00:00.000-07:002008-10-23T09:20:11.060-07:00I guess I need to get out a bit more.......<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 331px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5B9IQgEV8Cy3L5OGy42f2I3b2jB9Qoqufb1eGDLdt_7TVaEHIjN8pv9h7tys9kt5xtx-mybh_a3IYW-oln8r87TlxZqN4liERGaptNIoHCqd-5j5O4Bc8YHdCFAMb07QqJQtvJw/s400/copy+machine.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260382925031947490" />
I was volunteering at Danielle's school yesterday, and besides reading with the kids, I had to go make copies for Mrs. Storlie. So, I have used a copy machine before, lots, but when she told me what to do with the copies, I was a bit confused. So, I went down to the office and thought I could probably act like I knew what I was doing and continue on. But I kept looking at the note Mrs. Storlie gave me and I just didn't understand. It said......."copy page 27, 28, 29, and 30 back to back and stapled". Ok, I know how to copy back to back but what the heck is she talking about with "stapled". I mean, there were 90 copies times 2 sheets which was 180 pages stapled together.....this could take me awhile. I could be here WAY after school gets out. So, I showed the office lady the note, and I asked her what it meant, and she walks over to the copier, and she presses a button that says staple, and then she chooses where the staple should be located and she said..."You are set". OK. So I fed 4 sheets of paper in the copy machine, and wouldn't you know it, they came out as 2 pages, front and back, and stapled on the left hand side. Done.
I'm still trying to figure out how a person fits inside the copy machine and staples all the pages together.......Kellihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11194150677142580559noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24274272.post-25087843909783052482008-10-20T08:55:00.000-07:002008-10-20T08:59:17.322-07:00A great bible verse......<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrKJIoFkEd-jLxGWxL7vC5Xg9XBxzouKjylYFNlAH_lwNDy2AE3_HsQ4HLT1gr43iT-Ns7m2kRKL2SEzVhl6NyTS0Ywlohv6gEWQ4cajhTHbu_nIdebElqj8gSfV8gBUAySmRgpw/s320/giving.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259266176650970498" />
Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.
